Depression

It is important to first understand depression. 

Use the Patient (PHQ-9) (PDF, 279KB, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ PDF) to perform a self-assessment to help you begin to explore whether the feelings, thoughts, or behaviors you may be experiencing could be depression. The PHQ-9 is not intended to take the place of an evaluation by a trained medical professional. 

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides many free resources to understand depression for employees, retirees, and family members. The EAP also offers free workshops. 

A mental health professional or your physician can advise you about whether you can benefit from treatment and describe different treatment alternatives. 

  • Faculty and staff with university medical insurance can 
  • All faculty and staff, families, retirees, and organizational work units can receive assistance from the EAP
